Hebrews Our High Priest
What does it mean to truly possess what we profess? In this message drawn from Hebrews 4:14-16, we are invited to wrestle with one of the most personally relevant questions in the Christian life. The passage introduces us to Jesus as our great High Priest, and that single word 'great' carries far more weight than we might initially assume. The original Greek word is 'megas,' meaning large, exceeding, abundant, and mighty. This is not a merely adequate advocate. This is someone who is over the top in his capacity to intercede on our behalf. The central challenge the passage places before us is whether we are actually holding firmly to the faith we claim to profess, or whether we are quietly reaching for the world's answers when life gets hard. No bank account, no social media validation, no earthly solution can ultimately meet the need that only our High Priest can fill. The call is clear: cling to him with the same faith through which we first received him.
